Video: The Rassle - 21
NYC wild ones The Rassle just sent over their video for the track "21" and it looks like a trip down nostalgia lane.
"We actually shot it ourselves on an old Super 8 camera," says Reed. "It's sort of like The 400 Blows meets Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. We're really happy with the way the video turned out."
And just in case "you had some sort of computer meltdown and lost our EP," Reed says you can download their EP for FREE here. Coolie.

Straight-up garage rock: Oberhofer

Starving for the curry right in front of me now, but out of excitement, I will do what I need to do, which is post a song I found right when I got home: Oberhofer's Gotta Go. Great stuff. Hype sings for itself. Cold vocal, white-hot chorus -- both from a 19-year-old. Overall, a promising newer-wave hit from another Brooklyn-based band.

Chill Nu-Disco: Pase Rock x Shazam
No better way to end a blog break than with a new Shazam post. He got a little sensual in there and I don't blame him. I don't blame his rule of thumb when grooving about. This time, it's a delicate, jacuzzi-ready rendition of a year-old hit by Pase Rock called Nights. Sweet.

Thundercat, The Mutant Bass Cat

“I do believe that hip-hop can be the new jazz, and I’m helping create that."
Only Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner has the chops to say such a thing. His entire jam-style slant to his music isn't something you hear everyday, especially in the offbeat Flying Lotus genre. Producers usually craft everything through a computer -- which isn't the least bit terrible -- but this guy finds a way to include a lot of raw bass. Lots of wild but controlled bassing around. Jams, jams, and more of jams. The result really is something.
His resume does boast a few interesting things as well, such as the fact that he's jammed with the heavy-weighing likes of Flying Lotus himself and even Snoop Dogg. I just have all possible thumbs up for this guy.
His LP's due August 29. Meanwhile...
